Scientific Interests & Research

During the last years, my main research interest has been individual Supernovae, especially those that supposedly explode by gravitational collapse in the cores of evolved stars with stripped envelopes, but I have also worked associated with many other astronomers of the world in the search, follow up and study of Type Ia SNe that explode at high redshift, in order to compute luminosity distances to them and use those distances and the redshift of the parent galaxies to measure the cosmological parameters of our universe.

The imaging and digital comparison techniques we use set the focus not only on SNe but also on any other light source of transient nature. As a consequence, I have also done some work on generic variable sources that have appear in our search campaigns.
