My name is Johanna, and I am a Master student in Astrophysics at P. Universidad Católica de Chile. I am currently doing my thesis, where I am assembling an extensive catalogue of halo wide binary stars. I work in the "Stellar abundances and dynamics group", lead by Julio Chanamé at Católica. My main research topic is the spectroscopic study of binary systems.

On the image above you can see the evolution of two stars in the sky over the years. This system is called "61 Cygni" and, given the common proper motion of the two components and very slow orbital evolution, this is what we called a wide binary.
