SEVENTH NEWSLETTER OF THE CHILEAN ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY
The Society has published its first 2010 Newsletter.
The Chilean Astronomical Society (SOCHIAS) has published its 7th Newsletter, which contains news, articles and science highligths. The Newsletter, edited by Linda Schmidtobreick in both English and Spanish, contains a letter written by the current SOCHIAS President, Leopoldo Infante, who emphasized as he also did during the last society meeting, the deep impact of the earthquake in the University of Concepción.
"The University of Concepción has suffered important damages. Our colleagues lost several books and part of their working equipment. For that reason, SOCHIAS has given an important amount of money to recover bibliographical material", said Prof. Infante.
Furthemore, the Newsletter announces the next XII Latin American Regional IAU Meeting at México, the discovery of an enigmatic supernova done by two chilean scientifics, and prospects of astronomical undergraduate studies.
