Cold baryons in the line of sight toward QSOs and GRBs (Sebastián López, Universidad de Chile)
I will show new results from two independent spectroscopic surveys that use the absorption line technique. One is the Quasars behind Clusters (QbC) Survey, in which we have detected cold (T~10^4 K) gas associated with high-redshift cluster galaxies. The other one is the GRB Afterglows as Probes (GRAASP) Survey, which has delivered surprising results on the incidence of intervening MgII absorbers toward Gamma-Ray bursts.
