Using the galaxy distribution of the local universe from EDD, we trace back the gaussian initial conditions(ICs) as input for cosmological simulations. There are several approaches to this problem depending on the data and degree of accuracy, that will be discussed.
This ICs will be used to generate one of the most detailed cosmological simulation of the local universe in a ~100Mpc box size using the petascale capable Blue Waters system which will be available at midyear 2011.

The increase in the number of processors in the last couple of years, from hundreds to more than hundred thousand make necessary an improvement in the current cosmological parallel codes, specially in synchronization and communication times to preserve a reasonable scalability.
