Synthetic spectra for protoplanetary disks (Stefan Dreizler, Göttingen University)

In my talk I will start with an overview of scientific and instrumentation activities in the Stellar Astrophysics group at the Institute in Goettingen. I will then concentrate on the modeling of protoplanetary disks. We developed a modification of the PHOENIX code to calulate 1D and 3D radiative transfer models for the inner region of protoplanetary disks, which allows to calculate synthetic spectra for the gaseous emission lines. The potential as spectroscopic diagnostic tool to probe the physical conditions and the dynamics in these disk will be discussed.
