Together we will provide an overview of the status of the TMT project, outlining the scientific capabilities, aspects of the design, along with our plan to build the telescope and begin operations in 2018. A crucial step is the final site decision in July of 2009. The high scientific quality of the TMT selected northern and southern sites will be illustrated.
