Towards Perfect Image Subtraction: A Generalized Approach to Brute Force Image Subtraction, Jason Quinn (DAA - PUC)
Image subtraction plays a key role in astronomical disciplines. Modern computing power has allowed for a new technique to be used based on solving massive linear systems to find the best-fit kernel. A generalized approach of this technique is presented allowing for spacial variance of the kernel and background. An implementation of that technique written here at PUC is demonstrated and the path towards even better subtraction will be discussed.
