Applying for time

Instruments offered

WFI, an optical wide-field (0.5 × 0.5 degree) imager
FEROS, a fibre-fed R=50k échelle spectrograph with simultaneous thorium-argon reference
GROND, an optical (5 × 5 arcmin) and infrared (10 × 10 arcmin) imager with 7 simultaneous bands on the same field (grizJHK).

GROND is currently available only to MPIA, MPIE, and Chilean observers.

A call for proposals is issued twice a year (around May for the October-March period and around November for the April-September one).
Director's Discretionary Time (DDT) can be applied for at any time during the semester for observation during MPIA time.
All three instruments are available.
GROND Targets of Opportunity may interrupt and lost time is compensated in service mode if possible.
Time can be obtained in service or visitor mode, but observers are usually asked to perform service observations during their time on the mountain.

No Director's Discretionary Time (DDT) is offered.
Only visitor mode is offered.
