UA-56497231-1

Welcome to my website! My name is Felipe and I am a PhD student in Astrophysics at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). I am also enrolled in a double degree program with the University of Heidelberg, currently working at the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS). It is important to mention that, even though my "official" last name is Garrido, I have been using my second surname, Goicovic (from my mother's side) for academic propuses. Yes, in Chile we have 2 surnames.

I am currently doing my doctorate thesis with Dr. Jorge Cuadra (PUC, Chile) and Prof. Dr. Volker Springel (HITS, Germany), also in collaboration with Dr. Alberto Sesana, Dr. Federico Stasyszyn, Dr. Pau Amaro-Seoane and Cristián Maureira-Fredes. My research focuses on the hydrodynamical evolution of gaseous clouds as they interact with binaries of supermassive black holes, by means of numerical simulations. I am member of the Planets and Accretion group in Astrophysics (PLAGA) at PUC, and the Theoretical Astrophysics group (TAP) at HITS.

My main research interest is the numerical modelling of black holes at different scales, which includes the formation and dynamics of accretion discs, the production of energy, AGN feedback, as well as the formation and evolution of binaries with their associated observational signatures.
